The 14th PEAK Jacket is a combination of two mountain-tested apparel concepts, soft shell and hard shell, in a single, highly functional alpine double jacket. As a result, it manages to be both robust and lightweight at the same time, delivering outstanding breathability performance. The inner jacket is a premium quality soft shell tailored from extremely breathable, kinetic stretch FLEX SHIELD and is conceived for wear as a stand-alone shell on strenuous ascents. The microfleece reverse side offers basic insulation, while the outer surface is virtually windproof and shrugs any showers. In more extreme weather conditions, or when a little more warmth is needed, the shell jacket can be added. This consists of two very waterproof and breathable TEXAPORE O2 fabrics, which are also robust enough to withstand the chafing effect of rucksack straps and contact with rough rock. The critical points on the jacket that are most likely to wear, so the shoulders, elbows and waist, have been given TEXAPORE O2 NAILHEAD 2L construction. This highly abrasion resistant yet lightweight laminate prevents large scale mechanical abrasion. A detachable storm hood with wide chin flaps completes the weatherproof protection.
